So finally Show day arrived, and we were all happy and prepared for it! (Well somewhat )
Michael and I headed off to the stables early on Sunday morning to get things ready so we can Box Lily through to the show.
Not long and Pam and Johan joined us and we started getting ready to head off. I packed all my stuff I had to pack (most things were in the car already) and then went to Box Lily through. She boxed first time and off we went!I went in the Box with her and man oh man, what an experience that was! I tell you travelling on a horse box is not for the faint hearted!
Got to the show venue and started to get ready for everything. Lead Lily around to go see everything and she was an angel… well until two other horses arrived that went balistic and ended up setting Lily off. >.< Anyways we then put her into the Lunge ring so she could Chill in there before I get on… She had her moments in the Lunge ring and bucked and farted and ran around, which is good as she normally does this and is then an Angel afterwards! I went to go find out when I was riding etc. and as I came back Lily decided it would be a FANTASTIC idea to roll! XD
I was a bit upset about it lol, but got over it… I then realized I forgot a few things (Grooming kit and a water bucket) >.< But yeah so you learn!
Luckily Anel and David brought the above with when they came through (Thanks you guys were life savers). I then went and tacked up and got dressed for my class. Popped on and off to the warmup arena we went! Lily was very excited, loads of things to see and loads of horses cantering around and some bucking like loons She pranced around a bit here and there and got extremely excited when we popped over some fences, but overall I could not fault her behaviour. I found out on the day that the current rules for riding in the arena’s are Left to Left (can they make up their minds? ) when passing one another! Anways eventually it was our turn in the 50′s (we were 3rd in)
We had a FANTASTIC round, Lily was a super star and did everything perfectly! We went clear!
5 Clear rounds in the class, so we had a Jump off (60cm) and this time it was on TIME oish!
We went in for our round and Once again Lily was absolutely amazing and managed to get the 2nd best time! I think it was 27.16 The winning time was 23.26 or something like that o_O lol! But I was EXTREMELY happy with our Second Place! *PROUD AND HAPPY*
This was our first ever clear round in a jump off and our first place in a show jumping class!
After the class we had some nice chats and praised Lily big time! Then went off once again to prepare for the 60′s class! The course changed, so we had to go and walk the course again. The course really pickled my brain lol, but it wasn’t too bad! The only jump I was really worried about, was the wall (made from a type of tarpolin) and it was a combination (so had to jump two of them >.< ). This being said, I knew all I needed to do was look up and at my next fence and she will take it in her stride! We ended up being the 3rd last rider in the class (blah), but perhaps this was a blessing in disguise!
We went in very confidently and headed for the start. Lily flew over the fences like a super star! We got to the wall jump and I looked up and over and Lily stopped (who oah!), well all I did was pat her and encourage her and a small tap on the shoulder. She then went “OOH I must JUMP it” and off went! She leaped over it and went confidently into the other part! YAY! We once again ended up with a CLEAR ROUND! YAAAAAY!
Our first ever 60′s clear round
So once again we qualified for the Jump off! This time 6 of us qualified!
Man oh man some of those horses in the jump off went INSANELY fast lol! All I wanted was to go clear!
The jump off was 70′s and ended up being Fence 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5! We went in and picked up a really nice rythem, so nice I forgot about the time and just enjoyed my ride! We ended up going CLEAR once again in a time of 34.37 Which at that time had put me into 2nd place, but it was not meant to be, however we did end up in 4th place! I was SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Happy about our results! I was squeeling with happiness
I AM SO PROUD of Lily for her amazing effort and everything We all gave the Lily loves and I went to untack my little super star so she could chill whilst we watched some of the action in the bigger classes. We watched the 70′s competition and a bit of the 2phase and then attempted to head home! Lily had OTHER plans and thought it would be much for fun to TOY with us! Eventually it too us with branches and loads of encouragement to get her into the Box! A good right hand with the branch on the ass from Anel, was enough to launch her on lol!
We got back home and The groom took Lily from me, She somehow managed to get her halter loose and marched herself back to the paddock! LOL! Silly filly
Overall a VERY successful day for me and for Team GAS
Thank you to everyone who came to support me and for everyone who assisted with things, I couldn’t have done this without all of you!
A HUGE Thanks to Pam for helping Lily and I get ready for this show, our hard work in the arena paid off in leaps and bounds at the show (so much so, that it was actually quite easy )
Hope everyone has a really awesome week and happy riding!
I leave you all with a photo of our Rosette I’ll add show photos once there is some available!
